Headstock Pt. 1

Vik guitars inspires me. I’ve studied that guys build threads and decided I try out the sandwich veneer thing he does on his head stocks. It’s classy and adds a nice accent. It’s easy to apply but hard to manage the amount of glue. Titebond 3 is very low in viscosity and the wood itself basically drinks up the first application. I’ve found, through my fumblings, that allowing the glue to stay on the surface for a few minutes before applying the veneer will allow for a much smoother application. This is mainly because initially the glue isn’t tacky at all. After a few minutes it becomes tacky enough so whatever you place won’t move very far.
